Great Regulars: Au contraire: I commend American libraries

for their purchases, the way they celebrate their holdings and nurture their relationships with the writers involved. We should learn from them, and we should be grateful for their generosity towards interested scholars. More than that, we would do well to consider the possibility that the American enthusiasm for British papers might have kindled our own interest in them to a degree that might not otherwise have occurred.
