was a meteorologist and cryptographer with the Army Air Corps in North Africa and the Persian Gulf. For a time, he was assigned to the Royal Air Force on Cyprus.He returned to Philadelphia to work for the Insurance Company of North America from 1950 to 1960, his son said, before joining Chubb.
In his retirement, Mr. Battersby's poetry was published in several literary journals, his son said.
