a state-of-the-art event space for readings and an accessible library of some 30,000 volumes of poetry and criticism, most of which have been in deep storage and unavailable even to the magazine's editors for decades.

"The performance space was acoustically designed to be perfect for a voice speaking poetry," said [John] Barr, a former Wall Street investment banker, teacher and longtime published poet.

Yes, there's an elegant formality to that room and the rest of the space, with its Mies-ian lines, crisp white walls and hushed, writers-at-work air.
