Poetic Obituaries: [Janis Urban] served as recording secretary for

the Warren Conservation Commission for many years, and was an active volunteer for Save The Bay, contributing to many wildlife and habitat restoration projects. She was also recording secretary for the Kickemuit River Council. As an officer of the Laurel Park Improvement Association (LPIA), Janis authored and was awarded five environmental grants from private, federal and state agencies to restore the LPIA marsh and wetlands area. She was also awarded six consecutive Earth Day grants by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. An avid kayaker, gardener, poet and amateur naturalist, she was happiest when on the Kickemuit River.
