Great Regulars: [Samuel] Hazo received no stipend

and had no official duties although he wrote a poem solicited by Casey's successor, Gov. Tom Ridge, to dedicate a memorial in Harrisburg in 1995. It's chiseled in stone in the park.

When Ed Rendell took over in 2003, Mr. Hazo was dumped without explanation or announcement. A year later, a Rendell aide suggested that the post disappeared with Robert Casey and that Mr. Hazo was acting under false pretenses during the Ridge years.
