Poetic Obituaries: Weakening voice or no, [Leone] Hopkins

never turned down an opportunity to recite her poetry, which she didn't start writing until she was nearly 90.

"She had been reading poetry all her life, and she just decided she would start writing it, too," [Marilyn] Ingle said.

Hopkins, who was witty and good with words, often wrote her verse for other people.
