Poetic Obituaries: A longtime member of the Manufacturers'

Golf and Country Club in Fort Washington, Mr. [Hampton G.] Silcox [III] was active in all aspects of the club and served several terms as president. He was an avid golfer into his 80s and still enjoyed putting, his daughter said.

Mr. Silcox made furniture and crafted elaborate dollhouses for his wife and two granddaughters. "He loved the challenge of projects. Mom used to say, 'My Hamp can do anything,' " Crockett said.

He also wrote poetry for every occasion and lyrics for musicals at his country club.
