Poetic Obituaries: [Anne Delich] cherished a writing tablet

in which she'd written poems she'd studied during eighth-grade poetry hour at her church. She kept it in her nightstand drawer nearly all her life. She pulled it out and recited with gusto refrains from such beloved poems as "Casey at the Bat" and "Excelsior," [Marcia] Braun said.

"It was beautiful to see her reciting them," she said. "She treasured that little booklet."
