which I have tried to translate. And I can never get it right. And so as a result I started writing my own poems based on the imagery in this poem. Five of them are in the current Drunken Boat 10th anniversary issue. And it just came from the fact that I couldn't translate this poem, so I began proofreading the imagery. And I've written now five new life poems, and I'm going to read you one of what I call magpie translations, because the magpie is a thief, and I'm appropriating Joseph Brodsky's imagery, but making it my own.from Belinda Subraman Presents: Larissa Shmailo: Poet, Performer and Translator
