the New Jersey Public School Districts for 23 years until retiring. He was a lifetime member of the National Education Association.
He belonged to the Pocono Writers Guild. His love of poetry led him to create the Poetry Workshop of Pocono Writers which he founded and directed for 15 years.

John Mieskalski will be remembered as the member of Pocono Writers who started a poetry workshop which met monthly for many years, first in Snydersville and later at the Hughes Library in Stroudsburg. Although the Pocono Writers group folded after 25 years, John's group is still active.
