News at Eleven: Invictus has a long history of involvement

with eminent figures in modern history. Winston Churchill quoted it and so did Martin Luther King Jr. In youth, Senator John Mc-Cain committed it to memory. Last month, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that after he watched the film, the poem inspired him to defeat the attempt by members of his party to replace him. There have also been ugly moments for Invictus. Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, chose it to represent his views to the world just before his execution in 2001.

In popular culture it's had a long run.
