Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags blog
Hail King Abdullah II! Last week, we linked to that article about the poet Hatim al-Shuli being arrested in Jordan. This week, we lead off with the poet's unconditional pardon by the king of Jordan, Abdullah II bin al-Hussein. This link is followed by one to a review of Mark Doty's book, "The Art of Description: World Into Word".
The trapped Chilean Miners have assigned a poet, and Paul Vallely riffs off this to discuss Seamus Heaney's latest book of poetry. These are followed by articles on poets Todos Osmachka, Elizabeth Bishop, Allen Ginsberg, and Emily Dickinson, the latter a review of a book by Helen Vendler.
And this is just our beginning. Be sure to check out the Great Regulars and Poetic Obituaries sections too. It is an interesting week for news about poets and poetry, with some good poetry in the mix from the newspapers.
Yours,
Rus
