he had worked as a news clerk for The Tampa Tribune in Dade City. He was working as a security guard in Pinellas County when he was diagnosed.[Frank] Murphy, who has played in local bands for decades, said Capes was a gifted wordsmith who measured success differently than most people.
"To James, success was to get people to listen to his poetry or songs," he said. "If they said it was really cool, to him, that was success. That, and just to have a good time with his friends."
