Poetic Obituaries: A well-established fashion copywriter

in Chicago in the late 1930s, Betty-Jane Kendall Heitz also was a frequent contributor to the Tribune's popular "A Line O' Type or Two" column that featured prose and poetry from readers.

In addition to selling suits and shoes, Mrs. Heitz wrote poetry. On a whim, she sent Tribune editors one of her works, titled "Wish." They published it. And then, over the next 21 years, printed hundreds more under her initials, BJK.
