Great Regulars: This was the year

everything changed in publishing.

Electronic books and the devices used to read them exploded in popularity. Amazon, which sold about 2.4 million Kindles in 2009, is expected to at least double that number in 2010. Apple has sold about 7.5 million iPads since April and--as anyone who tried to squeeze into an Apple Store in the days before Christmas can tell you--is not done yet. It's safe to say that the iPad, a Ferrari that makes the Kindle look like a Yugo in comparison, did not hurt sales of the Kindle.
