Poetic Obituaries: The Nazis expanded anti-gay laws

to make homosexual acts a felony and, in 1934, began raiding gay bars in big cities. In 1937 [Rudolf] Brazda was denounced and arrested for "unnatural lewdness". After a month in custody, presented with love letters and poems he had written to his then partner, he "confessed" to the relationship and was imprisoned for six months for "debauchery".
