January 24th forum announcement

Dear Poetry Aficionados,

Poetry & Poets in Rags blog

Tomorrow is Robert Burns' birthday. As usual this time of year, newspapers come out with stories about him and this worldwide celebration in his honor. This year's batch seems more varied than other years. That's where we begin Poetry & Poets in Rags, with Burns deserving jail, Burns deserving better, and what would be his best poem. Ten stories down, on our Back Page, is an important article for our times, about "the Afghan Women's Writing Project, an organization that mentors Afghan women writers and distributes their work to a global audience." Back one article up from there, and you'll find a story on poetry editing, poets and others who help other poets get their poems spiffed up for publication.

As with all weeks, there are many more and varied articles than these, and plenty of original poems, in all three of our sections. I'll let you get to your reading.

Thanks for clicking in.

Yours,

Rus
