Great Regulars: A poet's truth is always convincing.

"Brylcream" sets the period. It was "then", but a familiar "then". "Torah" and "siddur" are exotic words, but the bloody cotton ball caught on a father's chin is touchingly familiar. We are in human territory, and the reader trusts the authenticity of the memory.

The poem is worth working on.
