Great Regulars: Of course, the poem stands fully achieved

as it is: a beautifully constructed and satisfying narrative, with a little rainbow-y flicker of myth at the edges. If it's a parable, perhaps it's simply one about the power of ordinary people to transcend themselves and their environment, to be kind and to find hope in the most unlikely circumstances.
