the University of Oxford's Bodleian Library mounted a splendid exhibition entitled Citizen Milton. Adorning the entrance to the exhibition was this quote from Gordon Brown, "At the core of British history, the very British ideas of 'active citizenship', 'good neighbour', civic pride and the public realm."
It is not clear which part of this quotation was intended to apply most accurately to John Milton.
