Poetic Obituaries: Les [Lambert] later served as a firefighter

in Selby, Goole and in the ordinance depot at Barlow before retirement from Drax Power Ltd. He was a regular contributor to the Selby Times, penning letters and poems of his wartime memories.

His son Phil described him as a "real gentleman" and a terrific sportsman.
