the heads and feet off with kitchen scissors so they don't look so chick-like. Each morning I sharpen the kitchen knife, eradicate from my mind what they were in their previous brief existence, and chop them like garlic; the owls' need for food is great enough to overcome any squeamishness that I might feel.
