Great Regulars: This phenomenon prompted an industry insider

to declare that if this type of price slashing were to continue on a regular basis, it would mean the end of book selling and book publishing as we know it. I wonder if the assumption is consumers would get used to paying less for a book and would then refuse to pay what has become the standard of $25 for a new hardcover novel by authors such as Stephen King and James Patterson?
