playing in the Valley Symphony Orchestra and writing poetry. Frederick's volunteer work included the literacy program for valley Latinos, Salvation Army and St. Mary Catholic Church in Aspen.He received awards such as the 1987 Golden Poet Award for his poems about growing up in Aspen, and was named to the Western State College Mountaineer Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the inaugural 1946-47 and 1947-48 ski teams.
