Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags blog
This week we begin with Simon Armitage writing about Ted Hughes receiving a rather rare and necessarily posthumous honor for a poet. This is followed by an article about 97-year-old Nicanor Parra (who is sixteen years Ted Hughes' senior, by the way) receiving "the Spanish-speaking world's most prestigious literary honor." We then take another look at Nikky Finney's work by way of an excerpt from her award-winning book, before visiting the ideas and works of Harold Bloom and Adam Kirsch. These are the articles that kick off our News at Eleven section.
In our Great Regulars section, it is good to have something by Denise Low to link to, as she has not been as regular since her time as the Kansas poet laureate. Ted Kooser brings us a poem by her--this among some very good poetry in that section, and articles as well. As always, be sure to scroll through the Poetic Obituaries.
Thanks for clicking in.
Yours,
Rus
