Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags blog
For his services to Literature, poet Geoffrey Hill has been honored as a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE). For the same reason, Welch poet Dannie Abse has become a CBE, a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. This is where we begin our News at Eleven section. From there, we travel the world, our next links bringing us to North Carolina, then Kashmir, and that's just the first four stories out of eleven.
As always, our Great Regulars section has dozens of links, three by Alison Flood, two by Christopher Nield. Garrison Keillor brings us a week's worth of daily poetry, and Good Times Santa Cruz brings us three poems by Lola Haskins.
Our third section is Poetic Obituaries. Take a scroll through before you leave.
The December IBPC results are in. Thanks to Nathalie Handal for three remarkable months of judging. Here is a link to the poems with her commentary on each: Winning Poems for December 2011. Congratulations to the poets and boards:
First place: One Belongs to Giving by Susan Katz, of conjunction
Second place: The Lessons by Jim Zola, of The Waters Poetry Workshop
Third place: flight by Dale McLain, of Wild Poetry Forum
Thanks for clicking in.
Yours,
Rus
