News at Eleven: "At that point, I started to get

very very excited because I realized that it was likely that I had here a poem that had never been seen by anybody since Elizabeth Dacre's day in the 1560s, and then the binder of the book, who rebound the book in the early 19th century, and recognized the importance of the piece, even if he couldn't read it, because he pasted it down at the back of the book," she [Elaine Treharne] said, "that's an extraordinary act of preservation for that period, and we're incredibly lucky that someone was as sensitive to the text to do that."
