Great Regulars: The translator, publisher and occasional

poet James Michie has died at the age of eighty. His versions of Catullus, of La Fontaine's Fables and Virgil's Eclogues are among the best in English; and for thirty years, as "Jaspistos", he set a literary competition in the Spectator. On January 7, 1983 the TLS published his seasonal poem "The Last Wasp".
