Great Regulars: Here nature is brought into the poem

not to symbolize the feelings of one individual, but to stand for the shattered individuals of an entire generation, survivors trying to put their lives back together in a country crippled by a war.

When contemporary psychological poets incorporate nature in their poems, they do so with irony or with deliberate distortion. Surrealistic images of nature reflect a state of mind that is considered unmistakably modern.
