News at Eleven: War is perhaps the great subject for poetry,

and love is its nearly equal partner. Pulitzer winner Yusef Komunyakaa has written devastatingly about both, and he opens his 13th collection of poems with a sequence of sonnets called "Love in the Time of War." Despite the promising subject, the poems do not quite work.

It's not for lack of good ideas.
