Ron Petersen, Jr., owner of KDMO Radio where Marvin's radio show, "Moments for Remembering," which still plays on that station spoke of meeting Marvin VanGilder at Lions Club meetings, which they would cover together, Petersen for the radio station and VanGilder for The Carthage Press.
He also spoke about VanGilder's skill on the radio as a storyteller.
