Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags blog
Last week it was New Zealand. This week we headline that a new poet laureate has been selected for the U.S.A., Philip Levine. Not only will you find links to articles on him and poems by him in News at Eleven, but several of our Great Regulars are covering this news. Jeffrey Brown, Hillel Italie, Rodger Kamenetz, Charles McGrath, Katherine Schulten, and John Timpane each chime in on his appointment. As always, there are dozens more stories to follow and poems to read this week from all around the globe.
Congratulations are in order for four poets and the poetry boards they where they share their work, and thanks to Tyehimba Jess, the esteemed summertime judge for the InterBoard Poetry Community. Here are his results for July:
First Place: In the Waiting Room by Greta Bolger of The Waters Poetry Workshop
Second Place: A Scarecrow Speaks to its Maker by Teresa White of Wild Poetry Forum
Third Place: put on your suit face by James Browning Kepple of conjunction
Honorable Mention: Shell Game by Fred Longworth of PenShells
Thanks for clicking in.
Yours,
Rus
