Poetic Obituaries: [Thomas Zvi Wilson] would come home

after work, they would talk and have a glass of wine and dinner, then he would retire to his study to write until around 9 p.m.

The result was the book "Deliberate and Accidental Acts," which was runner-up for the 1997 Thorpe Menn Award, named in honor of a former book editor at The Kansas City Star. Tom and Jeanie would go on to co-write a book of poetry, "The Door Into the Dream," which was named by The Star as one of the 100 most noteworthy books of 2006.

Of Tom's work, the critics always were appreciative, said Robert Stewart, managing editor of the radio literary journal "New Letters on the Air."
