We headline with Shelley this week, as if 200 years is like yesterday in poetry. Our lead article takes a very good look at his musing and writing, and our second article looks into his life. In fact, most of the News at Eleven stories have biography, as we look back at the lives of poets either to get to know them, or to see them in new light.

As usual, some very interesting articles from our Great Regulars, starting with Bryan Appleyard's look at Homer Simpson, David Biespiel's look at Anna Akhmatova, Terry Eagleton's view of Harold Pinter, and James Fenton's view of the Gates of Paradise.
