helped compile four books that were used in the Philadelphia public schools: Afro-American Literature: Nonfiction; Afro-American Literature: Drama; Afro-American Literature: Fiction, and Afro-American Literature: Poetry.
In 1968, Mr. Adams began working at the University of Pennsylvania as a lecturer in English. He quickly became a popular teacher and mentor, particularly among African American and other minority students.
