News at Eleven: There is a cliché about music writing,

sometimes attributed to Thelonious Monk, among others: "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture." If so, Nathaniel Mackey is compelled, rather than deterred, by the multiform madness of the enterprise. He is the Balanchine of the architecture dance.

Hi Rus,

'Just stumbled upon your blog -- it's a great site. Bravo! And what a good resource too with all of the helpful links.

I really like this post in particular. Nathaniel Mackey is brilliant. I just started to get into You Tube, and it's good to know one can find our beloved poetry there. Actually, I like this post so much that I might claim the "good artists borrow; great artists steal" axiom, and put this You Tube video on my blog as well, if it's okay with you -- I'll absolutely credit you as its original parent.

Kudos again on a fine blog.

Hi Sara,

I hope all is well. And thanks for coming by.

I simply searched for the video, found it, and embedded it--so it is not mine. Because we are able to embed it on our sites this way, we may. If you have a YouTube account and put a video up, you have the option of making it impossible for others to embed your work onto their site.

Yours,
Rus
