for her fiction, but the poetry has remained a constant; her most recent collection, Glad of These Times, came out in 2007, and last month she won the £5,000 National Poetry Competition for her poem "The Malarkey", submitted on impulse at the last minute, which judge Ruth Padel described as "completely arresting".
