Poetic Obituaries: Ludwik Jerzy Kern wrote epigrams, sketches,

anecdotes, poems, comedy, children's books and song lyrics. He created popular theme songs for TV series such as "The Civil War", "Don't Be So Fast Bill" or "Silent Water". He co-created the satirical TV programs--"Kernalia", "Kitchen Waltz" or "A Quarter with a Dog". He was also a translator (he translated Isaac Bashevis Singer). Kern also wrote very popular books for children. The most famous were: "Ferdinand the Magnificent" and "Please, Mr. Elephant". He cooperated with children's magazines "Plomyk" ("Flame") and "Plomyczek" ("Little Flame").
