November 23rd forum announcement

Dear Poetry Aficionados,

Poetry & Poets in Rags blog

More news stories coming out on last week's release of Aung San Suu Kyi. We begin with her being interviewed. The next story is on another poet whose views and writing threaten power tripping government officials, Taslima Nasrin, who in contrast to both Suu Kyi and Lui Xiaobo, is in exile. Also, down in our Great Regulars section, Luisetta Mudie continues to bring us translations of articles on jailed Nobel winner Liu Xiaobo, plus one this week on Mongolian writer Govruud Huuchinhuu, who is being detained by the governmental control freaks in China.

On our Back Page, the 11th item in News at Eleven, is a series of five articles from Atlantic Monthly on the value of poetry in the 21st century. We have lots of very interesting reviews, and profiles this week as well, plus some excellent poetry--for instance, Great Regular publication Salem-News.com brings us a poem by Gerardo "Tony" Mena, with a remarkable reading of it on YouTube; and up in News at Eleven, Tablet takes a Jewish look at C.K. Williams and his new book Wait.

There is more not to be missed, so I will let you get to your reading. Thanks for clicking in.

Yours,
Rus
