Poetic Obituaries: Always an avid writer and member

of Island writing and poetry workshops, Russell [S. Hoxsie] became increasingly prolific during his retirement. For years he wrote bi-weekly articles for The Times. In his column on Vineyard walking trails, he wrote lively story-filled pieces describing his treks with Lilly his Springer Spaniel. He wrote insightful, humorous anecdotes about aging in his more recent column, "Off North Road." In 2004 The Times published a book of Russ's favorite walking trail articles entitled "Let's Walk, Lilly." His poetry appears in two locally published anthologies, "Wednesday's Poets" and "Dinner at Dianthe's."
