Great Regulars: In the year after Poems (1953) won the

Arts Council Prize for Best First Collection, the TLS selected two new poems by Elizabeth Jennings (1926--2001). "Tribute" was later published in A Way of Looking (1955), which won the Somerset Maugham Award, affording her three months in Rome. There, she was far from the confines of her Oxford education and library job--and from the literary circles she frequented.
