Great Regulars: "Nellie Clark" was raped when she was eight

years old. But at that time, she did not know what had happened to her because she had "no words for it." The act made her afraid, and she reported it to her mother.

Even though she had no words for it at eight years old, she never actually names the act in her entire soliloquy. The reader, however, can conclude nothing other than rape, because she was too young to consent to the sexual act that took her virginity.
