Great Regulars: "Thomas Hardy Considers the

Newly-Published Special Theory of Relativity" [by Brian Aldiss] plays on the common tropes of Hardy's lyric verse (plain speech mixed with archaic inflection, as in the opening line; thoughts of the grave; memories of love long past) to imagine the author ruminating on Einstein's great theory, not long after it was first published in Germany, in 1905.
