Poetic Obituaries: In part, it was the centre that

helped [Bill] Foster rekindle his relationship with writing poetry.

Gwynneth says he wrote a bit when he was young, "but then it stayed dormant until he hit his 80s."

Though she says he wouldn't have admitted it, it was when Foster was diagnosed with cancer that he realized how much he appreciated all his friends from the centre.

In recognition of that, Foster wrote his poem, "A Senior's Prayer" which hangs on the wall in the centre. "He went on from there writing poetry," Gwynneth says.

Foster even published a book of his works--"Poems from the Heart"--which includes some of his first works as well as his later ones.
