when they all get together?" I ask Roger [McGough]. "Money," he says. "Artists don't, because they can sell things, money is a real issue for poets, some people get very purist--don't do voice-overs, that sort of thing."

He breaks off to tell a funny story about reading one of his poems, "Vow", at a wedding and a guest complimenting him on it, saying they'd really enjoyed it because, "It reminded me there's something I need to get from Waitrose."
