Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags
In News at Eleven, it's ladies first this week. We have Lucille Clifton, Margo Tamez, Anne Bradstreet, Deborah Garrison, and Elaine Feinstein. Only then do we get to Dan Jones, Joseph Brodsky, Will Eaves, Charles Bernstein, Dwayne Morgan et al, and Martin McGuinness.
We have a new Great Regular, but we know him well. I figure while he is on hiatus from his laptop and e-mail for two weeks, we may as well read the work he left behind. Bryan Appleyard has two articles in The Times.
Speaking of IBPC judges, Sarah Crown has her first Poem of the Week for us. Frank Wilson has two articles in the Philadelphia Inquirer. And David Kirby has been given the 'Distinguished Teacher Award' at Florida State University. This, after last week, when his latest book got an excellent review in the New York Times from Carol Muske-Dukes. His star keeps rising.
Lot's of news in poetry this week. Thanks for clicking in.
Yours,
Rus
