In 1972, he, his wife Dorothy and his growing family shook the dust of California from feet and moved to a castle in the south of Ireland.The family lived there to a very different set of values for the next 17 years, and Willoughby translated a collection of early 9th century Irish poetry for the book Voices of Ancient Ireland.
