Great Regulars: Designating a month for the celebration

of poetry, rather than something important like National Windsurfing Week often raises the question: What's the point of poetry?

My response is usually, "It has no point, just as there's no use for a terrific novel." I then resort to a wiser head than mind, Archibald MacLeish and his poem, "Ars Poetica":

A poem should be equal to:
Not true. . . .
A poem should not mean
But be
