November 8th forum announcement

Dear Poetry Aficionados,

Poetry & Poets in Rags blog

This week, we start with Sylvia Plath's drawings. In recent weeks, this story has been in the mix, first in announcing that her drawings would be on exhibition, and then to report that they are, with pictures revealed. But this week, we have her very fine drawings put into contexts nicely. I like, for instance, that they do not define her as suicidal, but as a sharp, creative, and thoughtful person. And they may help pull us away from thinking that all her writings were somehow mirrors pointing to the day she died. That's the first of eleven items in our News at Eleven section.

Great Regulars follows, and is full of terrific poems, for instance by A.E. Stallings, Molly Fisk, Joseph Mills, and Pinny Bulman. Great Regulars who bring us multiple items this week are Alison Flood, as always Garrison Keillor, E. Ethelbert Miller, Carol Rumens, and The Brooklyn Rail. And then take a scroll through the Poetic Obituaries, like last week, not as full as usual.

Thanks for clicking in.

Yours,
Rus
