Dear Poetry Aficionados,
Poetry & Poets in Rags blog
This week's poetry news begins in Chile, where the miners were released, including two who write poetry. We then go to China, where poet Liu Xiaobo is not being released, nor may information about his winning the Nobel Peace Prize be published, this while his wife Liu Xia is being detained. We then travel to Ireland, to England, to Massachusetts, back to England by way of Canada, back to the States, then over to Iran, and we keep going.
Two articles in Great Regulars look at being old, for instance Robert Pinsky's and Frank Wilson's, each of whom are having a birthday this span of a week, one his 70th, one his 69th. We also have two articles on religion and philosophy that read well off each other, the ones by Bryan Appleyard and Adam Kirsch.
And there is much more than is hinted at here, but I should let you get to your reading. Thanks for clicking in.
Yours,
Rus
